JOB TITLE: Sourcing Specialist – Telecom and Network Hardware and Software 
 
LOCATION: Jersey City, NJ

  • The Sourcing Specialist – Telecom and Networks, is responsibility for managing the firm’s 3rd party spend with telecom carriers, network hardware and software vendors; working with key stakeholders to analyze spend, identify opportunities and demand, crafting and executing category and specific sourcing plans, managing the entire RFx process, negotiating and completing agreements on-time and within budget. 
     
  • Our client is currently embarking on a major review of its telecom networks and will be issuing a RFP requesting proposals from qualified vendors. The Sourcing Specialist, will lead the complete sourcing life cycle from initial requirements identification to contract sign-off and hand over to the business users. 
     
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO: 
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape within telecom and networking and an understanding of the major trends influencing the category 
  • Prior experience in developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver measurable bottom line savings while mitigating vendor and other risks 
     
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Develop and direct the strategic sourcing process across the assigned categories. Specifically, 
  • Collaborates with the business leaders to evaluate technology investment plans and identify sourcing opportunities and strategies to drive the sourcing pipeline and deliver cost savings 
  • Manages suppliers and plans for the use of suppliers in connection with the implementation of technology strategies and goals 
  • Develops the strategy and directs and lead the implementation of enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives for large strategic technology partnerships in telecommunication services 
  • Work collaboratively to assure effective supplier relationships 
  • Provide external marketplace knowledge of the latest IT dynamics, trends, benchmarks and best practices 
  • Promote excellence in sourcing processes across the firm. 
  • Utilize consistent methodologies to pursue deliverables that are aligned with strategic objectives and policies 
  • Act as the primary interface between vendors and the firm for legal, vendor risk, privacy, technology risk as needed to ensure that goods and services are sourced with an acceptable level of risk
 
EXPERIENCE:
  • We require a minimum of 10 years of prior experience in sourcing in positions of increasing responsibility with recent specific experience managing IT sourcing opportunities 
  • Five or more years of Technology Sourcing experience in networks and telecommunications category 
  • Extensive experience in the entire end-to-end RFX Process including contract negotiations 
  • Experience in prior transformations a plus 
  • Financial Services experience is a plus 
     
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS 
  • Deep IT category expertise, esp. in connection with telecom and networking 
  • Excellent negotiation skills 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on strategic initiatives 
  • Proficient with complex solutions and the commercial and legal issues associated with purchasing these solutions 
  • Good analytic skills with an ability to analyze and understand spend and vendor and pricing models 
  • Able to develop and promote a category sourcing plan -- requirements development, demand management, RFP process, contract and service level negotiations, and vendor management
  • Ability to measure and understand all aspects of supplier performance 
  • Good communication skills; verbal and written. Polished and confident with an ability to represent Sourcing at all levels within the firm. A team player 
  • Strategic consulting skills; the ability to "think outside the box" to create alternative solutions for consideration, and provides comprehensive risk/benefit analysis on those alternatives 
  • Clear ability to influence and lead in driving change in the organization 
  • Ability to translate strategic vision in to tactical plans and manage the change required to execute 
  • Broad business knowledge and focus including finance/accounting treatment for category purchases
