JOB TITLE: Project Specialist - PMO
LOCATION: San Diego California (zip 92121)
TYPE: Contract

DURATION: 1+ year with potential for extension or conversion to permanent hire
CLIENT: Fortune 100 BANK
TARGET PAY RATE: $47-50 per hour w2

  • Working in conjunction with the program manager or PMO managing director, the project specialist assists with the implementation of programs, projects and processes.
  • Project specialists perform a variety of core project functions, including disseminating project information to project stakeholders, monitoring the achievement of project activities on behalf of the project manager, developing and maintaining project deliverables, building PMO dashboards and presentations as well as facilitating PMO process improvement initiatives.
  • The project specialist works under the direction of the program manager or PMO managing director, but performs work independently.
  • This position assists Project Managers and PMO Managing Director in the development of best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • They gather details and complete research as necessary to assist in defining project success criteria.
  • This position is also responsible for understanding our governance practices and ensuring all projects and activities meet those guidelines and requirements.
  • They provide guidance within and outside of the PMO in navigating through the project approval process. 

Major Responsibilities: 
  • Create and manage project plans 
  • Develop project budgets and manages project expenditures 
  • Prepare agendas for meetings, document key decisions and collaborate with team members to develop project artifacts 
  • Facilitate meetings and contribute to planning and decision making 
  • Provide effective communication in both oral and written form 
  • Develop engaging, informative and well-organized presentations, status reports and progress updates 
  • Drive ad-hoc analysis and project work as required 
  • Manage project management data and artifacts including structure, versioning, storage 
  • Build PowerPoint decks and other project communication 
  • Develop organization charts 
  • Help track and manage project risks and issues 
  • Produce status reports 
  • Assist Project Managers and PMO Managing Director in the development of best practices and tools for project execution and management 
  • Gather details and complete research as necessary to assist in defining project success criteria
Additional Information: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 5 years of direct project work experience on projects
  • 5 years of business related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Proven experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven attention to detail, with excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and personal organization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Work independently, unsupervised with tight deadlines. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Highly proficiency with Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
  • Must enjoy working in a fast paced and complex work environment.
