JOB TITLE: BMC Remedy ITSM Application Developer

LOCATION: San Diego, CA (US NAVY SPAWAR)
 
CLEARANCE LEVEL: Active DoD - Minimum Secret
 
TYPE: Permanent Salaried Employment
 
CLIENT: Large US Defense Contractor (US NAVY)
 
TARGET PAY RATE: $75,000 to $85,000 + benefits
 
CERTIFICATION(S): DoD 8570.01-M IAT-1 CE certification although a CompTIA Security+ CE certification is strongly preferred
 
SUMMARY:
We are looking for a highly motivated BMC Remedy ITSM Application Developer who is ready for the next step in their career development. This position provides operations and sustainment support for the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) Solutions Project Branch, Code 54330, at Space the Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center (SSC) Pacific. This Branch provides a large-scale BMC Remedy ITSM Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution to multiple agencies within the US Navy, Department of Defense (DoD) and Homeland Security.
 
DUTIES:
  • This position will serve as a BMC Remedy Application Developer, providing technical support to BMC Remedy ITSM customers, and ensuring the availability, capacity, and security of the solution meet Navy and customer needs.
  • This position will also have the opportunity to perform software and systems engineering, development, testing, and integration of changes to the BMC Remedy ITSM environment, learning from senior engineers and applying that knowledge to future challenges.
  • The position requires superior customer service, rapidly resolving customer requests and incidents while working within Information Technology Infrastructure Library version 3 (ITILv3) best practices, including Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in computer science or related field. (A BMC Remedy ITSM Certification may be substituted for the degree)
  • Candidate must have a current DoD 8570.01-M IAT-1 CE certification although a CompTIA Security+ CE certification is strongly preferred
Background Needed and Years of Experience:
  • Four (4) years of direct experience providing state-of-the-art software solutions in IT or business process re-engineering.
Technical Skills (Must Have):
Be proficient in the operations and sustainment of the BMC Remedy ITSM 8.1 and/or 9.1 suite. Demonstrate a working knowledge of common administrative functions supporting user requests and incidents, as well as preventive maintenance to keep the system healthy while achieving optimal performance. Be proficient in trouble-shooting techniques for BMC Remedy ITSM, understand the impact of design decisions on BMC Remedy ITSM, and have experience and knowledge of client / server systems.
  • Proficient in BMC Remedy Action Request System (ARS), Mid-Tier, Service Request Management (SRM), and ITSM Suite to include Incident, Change, Asset, Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and Developer Studio.
  • Proficient in configuring and customizing BMC's ITSM Suite and enabling technologies, such as mobile integrations, analytics, and asset discovery, on Windows operating system platforms utilizing web servers, application servers, and databases.
  • Experience working with BMC Remedy ARS 8.1 administration, advanced Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Experience in administration of user accounts / groups, security and change requests, end user support and issues, password lockouts, report generation, account management, monitoring system logs, and general maintenance
  • Ability to provide corrective actions due to hardware or software failures or vulnerabilities.
  • Monitoring and testing of system backups and restores, installation of Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) security patches, and installation of operating system and software patches.
  • Familiarity with the ITIL processes - a set of best practices for improving IT management and service
