CLIENT: Large Retail Chain (Corporate HQ Based Position)
 
SUMMARY:
The IT Project Manager is primarily responsible for maintaining and executing technology strategies by managing IT and business resources, researching and implementing technology solutions, interfacing with internal business stakeholders and external business/technology partners, and planning projects designed for specified business outcomes. This position is in a dynamic growth environment with multiple projects occurring in parallel and with multiple interdependencies. Most of the projects involve transforming the business to a modern technology environment, adhering to accepted business and technology best practices in the retail and related industries.
 
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The IT Project Manager job duties:
  • Maintains and improves organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
  • Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.
  • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting project requirements; preparing project budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.
  • Develops estimates, timelines, and resource requirements for business requests (projects or enhancements)
  • Develops detailed project plans for successful execution of projects
  • Manages the project deliverables across various phases of the project (Project preparation to closeout)
  • Provides timely and accurate status reports to the business and leadership, and manages risk
  • Helps establish /update project standards and procedures where appropriate
  • Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.
  • Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.
  • Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Accomplishes IT project staff results by communicating project role expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining project team members; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
 
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related area / May have post-graduate education or training
 
EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND:
  • 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • 2+ years of experience in project team management in a related area; experience as a consultant/project manager in a consulting firm a plus
  • Experience with Project Management / Familiarity with Project Methodology (both waterfall and Agile); PMP certification a plus
