Schedule: 8AM -4:30PM and is required to be on-call. 
 
SUMMARY:
  • In this role, the MS Exchange Engineer will provide Tier III level enterprise global Microsoft Exchange support. The enterprise network is in support of a 265,000 user environment across multiple Active Directory domains to provide messaging support.  The Messaging environment consists of Microsoft Exchange mail services (client Access, Hub transport, and Mailbox server roles), Enterprise Blackberry services, Cisco E-mail security solutions, NetApp backup and restore solutions, and UnitySync directory synchronization services.  The underlying infrastructure consists of physical servers, VMware Virtualization and NetApp storage solutions.  Work environment is 8x5x52 but candidates are on-call 24x7 in the event of major network outages.
 
In this role the successful candidate may be asked to complete the following tasks:
  • Use their experience with Server Platforms at the Tier III level.
  • Provide day-to-day messaging and Directory Support for the following products: ADAM/ADLDS, UnitySync, and Identity Integration Feature Pack and shall manage the Global Address List (GAL).
  • Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with Messaging technologies.
  • Monitor the health of Messaging technologies with provided event management tools
 
DUTIES:
  • Maintain the overall health of technologies associated with Messaging.
  • Provide Microsoft Enterprise Exchange operational configuration management support.
  • Provide Blackberry Enterprise Server Version 5+ (v12) technical expertise in the management, maintenance, and problem resolution. Including Blackberry IT policy and configuration management.
  • Provide Cisco IronPort technical expertise in the management, maintenance, and problem resolution.
  • Provide Directory Support for the following products: ADLDS, Unity Sync, and Identity Integration Feature Pack, Forefront Identity Manager to manage the USMC Global Address List (GAL).
  • Resolve messaging tickets escalated from the service desk including the administrative activities for: message tracking, content filter tasks, and reporting and provide a weekly Messaging Status Report (to be incorporated into the Weekly Status Report, CDRL A00A) in accordance with required response times.
  • Configure Antivirus   products and HBSS as they relate to Exchange Servers.
  • Provide guidance and instruction (to include written documentation) such as SOPs and inputs into the knowledge management system repository to the service desk for handling standard Message related incidents and service requests.
  • Provide documentation, guidance and instruction to the Tier 1 service desk for handling standard Messaging related incidents, work orders and service requests.
  • Submit and execute Messaging related change request tasks.
  • Coordinate incident tickets between Tier II and III sections as well as other sections as required.
  • Monitor the health of Messaging with Client provided event management tools.
  • Provide Client project support for Messaging related technologies.
  • Coordinate with the Plans Division and other Client sections on messaging issues.
  • Support change management process; submit   requests through Change Approval Board; participate   in a Change Review Board.
  • Escalate product-related issues to third party product vendors.
  • Implement monitoring tool thresholds   and conduct proactive event remediation.
  • Ensure that any latency, whether at the Command or the Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) level, is identified and mitigated/remediated upon discovery in accordance with required response times.
  • Monitor availability of system upgrades.
  • Provide analysis and remediation for DISA Security Technical Implementation (STIG) for all responsible technologies in preparation for annual Commanders Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI).
 
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • DoD 8580 IAT III or IAM III certification (CISA, GCIH, GCED, CASP, or CISSP (or Associate))
  • Professional level certification, i.e. MCSE Exchange
  • ITIL v3 (desired)
 
BACKGROUND NEEDED AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years Microsoft Exchange experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange PowerShell commands needed to manage Exchange 2010/2013 features, roles, mailboxes, performance and troubleshooting
  • Experience identifying the need for any messaging system reconfigurations (minor or significant)
  • Experience maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans for messaging system administration and appropriate use
  • Experience in building, tuning and maintaining servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting server performance issues using native Windows Server tools and utilities
  • Experience administering BlackBerry Enterprise Servers
  • Experience upgrading and patching BlackBerry Enterprise Servers
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving Blackberry device issues and BES performance issues.
  • Strong experience with Exchange 2010/2013, planning, deploying and migration, including experience with mailbox server failover and cluster management
  • Extensive knowledge of Exchange architecture - databases and logs, mail routing and protocol support.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange PowerShell commands needed to manage Exchange 2010/2013 features, roles, mailboxes, performance and troubleshooting
  • Thorough working knowledge of Windows Server
  • Thorough working knowledge of Active Directory as it relates to messaging technologies.
