IT CATEGORY MANAGER / Sourcing Specialist (hardware, software, services)

Intermedia Group has the following open position with one of our clients:
TITLE: IT CATEGORY MANAGER / Sourcing Specialist (hardware, software, services)
CLIENT: Fortune 100 Financial Firm
LOCATION: Jersey City, NJ
TYPE: ongoing contract with potential for conversion to perm hire

Main Duties
Responsible for managing 3rd party spend within as specific category; working with key stakeholders to analyze costs, identify opportunities and demand, crafting and executing category and specific sourcing plans, managing the entire RFP/RFB process, negotiating and completing agreements on-time and within budget. 

Our client’s Sourcing Organization is responsible for partnering with Business Managers and Subject Matter Experts to define requirements, identify and mitigate vendor risks and manage all 3rd party provided IT and non-IT goods and services for the firm and its affiliates. You'll also lead the complete sourcing life cycle from initial requirements identification to contract sign-off and hand over to the business users.  
The successful candidate must be able to:
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape within IT and an understanding of the major trends influencing IT
  • Good understanding of key IT technologies and an ability to quickly learn an assimilate emerging technology; i.e., Saas, IaaS, cloud native, distributed ledger, automation
  • Prior experience in developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver measurable bottom line savings while mitigating vendor and other risks
Develop and direct the strategic sourcing process across specific IT categories.
  • Collaborates with the business leaders to evaluate Technology investment plans and identify sourcing opportunities and strategies to drive the sourcing pipeline and deliver cost savings
  • Manages suppliers and plans for the use of suppliers in connection with the implementation of technology strategies and goals
  • Develops the strategy and directs and lead the implementation of enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives for large strategic technology partnerships and transactions in key category areas including; software, hardware, infrastructure, storage/networking equipment, telecommunication services, contingent labor, and outsourced technology services
  • Work collaboratively to assure effective supplier relationships
  • Provide external marketplace knowledge of the latest IT dynamics, trends, benchmarks and best practices
  • Promote excellence in sourcing processes across the firm
  • Utilize consistent methodologies to pursue deliverables that are aligned with strategic objectives and policies
  • Act as the primary interface between vendors and the firm for legal, vendor risk, privacy, technology risk as needed to ensure that goods and services are sourced with an acceptable level of risk for the firm
  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing in positions of increasing responsibility with recent specific experience managing IT sourcing opportunities (including: hardware, software, telecommunications and services)
  • Extensive experience in the entire end-to-end RFx Process including contract negotiations
  • Experience in prior transformations (a plus)
  • Financial Services experience (a plus)
  • Experience managing complex relationships and experience working in international settings and outsourcing are highly preferred
  • Deep IT environment expertise, proficient with complex solutions and the commercial and legal issues associated with purchasing these solutions
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to convey ideas with confidence and ability to represent S2C at all levels within the firm
  • Good analytic skills with an ability to analyze and understand spend and vendor and pricing models
  • Able to develop and promote a category sourcing plan -- requirements development, demand management, RFP process, contract and service level negotiations, and vendor management
  • Ability to measure and understand all aspects of supplier performance
  • Strategic consulting skills; the ability to "think outside the box" to create alternative solutions for consideration, and provides comprehensive risk/benefit analysis on those alternatives
  • Clear ability to influence and lead in driving change in the organization
  • Ability to translate strategic vision in to tactical plans and manage the change required to execute
  • Broad business knowledge and focus including finance/accounting treatment for category purchases
