LOCATION: HYBRID – remote with 2-3 days per week on site in Fairfield Connecticut **please note, the Fairfield CT office is directly across the street from the Metro North (New Haven line) Station. It’s easily commutable
TARGET COMPENSATION: to $140,000 + benefits
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE POSITION, NOT A CONTRACT. --We cannot deal with Corp to Corps or Third Party Submitted Candidates.
--Candidates must be able to work in the US without sponsorship (either citizen or Green Card)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a “hands on” position where engineer is expected to dive into the requirements of the Quality Engineering department, and design and develop manual regression tests to be implemented in a new platform.
It is expected that the candidate in this position works with Software Development groups, QE Automation Engineers, as well as in-house and over-seas contracted personnel.
The candidate needs strong quality assurance skills, possess the ability to configure servers at the hardware and software levels.
Solid communications and project management skills will be required.
The candidate must satisfy required experience and must be passionate about staying current with the latest test testing methodologies on the market, as well as constantly striving to apply the latest in enhancement techniques into the test platforms.
ACCOUNTABILITIES WITH EXPECTED RESULTS The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing a cost effective, long-term test strategy promoting reusable components, low maintenance costs, high efficiency and scalability. The scope of the position is:
Create effective test strategy and planning to ensure software quality following business, technical and functional requirements.
Collaborate with agile team providing input for product backlog, sprint planning, story development, demos and team retrospective.
Define entrance criteria and definition of “done” for QA deliverables
Create test estimates and define reusable test assets
Proactively manage testing for high visible products under tight deadlines
Identify risk, bottlenecks in the test execution during architecture, planning and design
Work with and support off-shore and on-shore manual resources
Interact closely with development and quality engineers to design and execute test plans
Be responsible for the specification and installation of required hardware and software for functional projects.
Conduct test case reviews ensuring quality engineers follow standards
Perform system, regression and integrated test across multiple phases in the SDLC.
Coach junior engineers in test methodologies, tools and techniques.
Good understanding of defect cycle to drive defects to closure.
Develop practices and select tools to facilitate test-driven development with a high-degree of test automation for a highly scalable, mission-critical communications solutions used in trading floors
Participate in defect review and defect resolution meetings advocating for customers and high-quality products.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis of escapes and implement a test strategy to remediate issues.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Minimum of 10 years of experience writing comprehensive test plans and test cases aligned with product requirements.
MUST HAVE HANDS ON MANUAL TESTING EXPERIENCE
1+ year experience with VoIP telephony.
Solid understanding of white-box, functional, system, performance, regression and operational testing
Knowledge and use of quality management methods, tools, and technology used to create and support defect-free, application software that meets the needs of customers
Experience in defining and implementing test processes in the organization
Ability to work in an agile development environment where developers and testers work closely together to ensure requirements are met or exceeded
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze and balance facts, priorities, and alternatives to make sound decisions and recommendations
Ability to evaluate past decisions to improve effectiveness of future decisions and development efforts
Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to all levels of the organization
Outstanding problem-solving skills, including the ability to look for non-standard problem solutions.
Ability to learn and apply new technologies and learn and understand details of third-party applications and technologies
DESIRED
Experience in IP and networking protocols and architectures
Experience in security, including security of networks, servers, and VoIP systems
Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects
Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX preferably Solaris and/or Linux operating systems
Linux, Windows, UNIX, Cisco, SQL, Avaya or Nortel PBX Administration
EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is required
