The Director of Strategic Sourcing and Subcontracts is responsible for developing a strategic sourcing roadmap and implementing a plan to deliver the best value to the organization.
The successful candidate will work with key leaders to ensure the best portfolio of suppliers are selected for each Program.
This will include selecting key suppliers, maintaining a network of grow and maintain suppliers, and fostering strategic relationships with external partners.
Will also include working with commodity leaders across the corporation, administering supply chain programs, tools and processes for multiple supply chain functions including commodity management, material management, procurement, and subcontracts.
Will develop pricing strategies and implement Long Term Agreements with suppliers, and a strategy to maintain competitive pricing for proposals.
Ensures sourcing efforts meet business goals and objectives.
Works with functional leaders to perform analysis and identify areas for performance improvement.
Oversees and supports implementation of strategic initiatives, as well as activities related to global sourcing, supplier selection, product delivery specifications, and quality.
Establishes, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions.
Develops and maintains working relationships with global supply chain partners. Designs and implements business metrics to monitor, track, and report sourcing project progress.
Essential Functions:
Meets purchasing operational standards by contributing purchasing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying purchasing system improvements.
Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
Develops procurement sources by researching and contacting vendors; attending demonstrations; leading conferences involving suppliers, engineers, purchasers, inspectors and other company personnel; facilitating material inspection, substitution, standardization and vendor/company partnering.
Develops materials and distribution organizational strategies by contributing materials and distribution information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction, establishing materials and distribution objectives in line with organizational objectives.
Directs purchasing organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction, establishing functional objectives in line with organization goals.
Coordinates with department heads to develop supply budgets, tooling budgets, and oversees spending.
Negotiate long term agreement contracts covering items of major importance or magnitude.
Sustains competitive product pricing by negotiating equipment, materials, and supplies costs, discovering new sources.
Lead cross-functional teams and upkeep of key segment and supplier relations.
Drives continuous improvement throughout the Supply Chain function.
Will collaborate with Global Procurement to ensure the best value supply chain is implemented for all programs.
In-depth knowledge of FAR/DFAR procurement and estimating processes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience – or - Graduate Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Experience with defense supply chains (Army and Navy) preferred.
