The Production Superintendent is responsible for overseeing product manufacturing, finished product quality and raw material management for single-line in a 24-hour manufacturing process, as well as employee training and development. This role is critical to the success of the 24/7 manufacturing site.
  • The position leads the production function and directly manages a team of 4 Production Supervisors, 2 Engineers, and 2 Process Engineering Technicians with overall responsibility for 118 Production Employees out of a 230-person site.
  • The Production Manager will play a key leadership role in driving operational performance, accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • This individual will partner closely with a technical team (Plant Engineer/Process Engineer), ensuring alignment between production execution and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Manage product manufacturing, finished product quality and raw material management for the operation
  • Supervise manufacturing resources to meet production goals and assist in preparation of budgets and standards for cost measurement
  • Develop and administer material and labor usage controls and metrics
  • Lead and develop a team of supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production output
  • Drive accountability across the production organization, setting clear expectations and following through on commitments
  • Own and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs), demonstrating a strong grasp of performance metrics and trends
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing and 5S principles
  • Develop and execute training and workforce development plans, proactively addressing skill gaps
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to balance operational needs while maintaining forward momentum on change initiatives
  • Plan and schedule work to utilize equipment and maintain maximum productivity levels
  • Utilize operating indicators for control of product cost, material usage, machine downtime, expenditure control and other shift functions
  • Ensure production activities are in compliance with company policies procedures and that manufactured goods meet finished product specifications
  • Maintain strict compliance with all financial, legal, regulatory and environmental requirements within the operation
  • Actively support improvement of safety performance by reducing OSHA incident rate and lost time accidents to 0
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned
 
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within a 24/7 operation
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills – This position manages a staff of 115 hourly/8 salary employees, sets direction and deploys resources. Responsible for performance evaluations, pay reviews, hiring, and terminating.
  • Proven ability to diagnose solve process issues
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work partner with Plant Leadership team
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge and understanding of SAP or ERP systems
  • Strong sense of urgency and a results-driven mindset; defaults to action and execution
  • Proven ability to take initiative, drive projects across the finish line, and deliver measurable improvements
  • Comfortable working with data and KPIs; able to translate insights into actionable plans
  • Skilled in influencing and holding others accountable, including managing differing perspectives (e.g., balancing production needs with process engineering priorities)
  • Experience implementing improvement frameworks (Lean, 5S, training programs, etc.)
