BASE SALARY: $86,000 to $115,000

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Position requires supporting operations 24/7, as worked out on collaborative team schedule of controls engineers & technicians.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of experience performing Quality audits and QMS documentation
  • Electrical testing procedures and protocols experience
  • Understand and have experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Production PartApproval Process (PPAP) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) models
  • Quality Compliance experience
     
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • The Quality Engineer is responsible for carefully monitoring the overall quality of manufactured products.
  • They rigorously test processes and enforce uncompromising quality standards.
  • The engineer is also responsible for creating detailed documentation, designing strict quality tests, and setting clear criteria for test results.
  • Quality Engineers maintain high-quality standards and decisively address any issues that arise.
  • They work alongside a team of professionals to ensure that final products consistently meet and exceed customer expectations while optimizing the manufacturing process to be both efficient and cost-effective.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Directs cross functional teams in problem solving and issue analysis in an effort to address either customer or production related issues 
  • Coordinates support of production manufacturing with problem solving, process improvements and resolution to manufacturability issues. 
  • Maintains ISO 9001 quality system and supports the management of Quality Management System procedures.
  • Manages identification of gaps at the Department/Plant level and executes improvement activity using knowledge as subject matter expert. 
  • Directs coordination of customer return analysis and ensures timely response to customers.
  • Works with Design Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure that quality criteria are clearly identified on all newly established parts and communicated to suppliers. 
  • Develops and leads routine risk assessment activity (PFEMA) on all new products and with changes that affect existing product. 
  • Works in partnership with engineering to support all NPD Launch related projects and milestones related to product quality and improve the overall process to achieve zero defects and launch readiness.
  • Executes or facilitates all aspects of APQP and Part Approval and sign-off for both suppliers and customers, manage revisions of process control documents such as PFMEAs, Control Plans and other quality tools to ensure compliance.
  • Analyzes scrap, warranty, internal defect, and customer complaint rates to develop action plans for improvement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality or manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Quality Management Systems, including managing internal audit
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of Quality or Manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, A3s, etc
  • Experience in electrical testing procedures and protocols.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret regulation and standards, and implementing Electrical Safe Work practices such NFPA 70E.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and trouble shoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience supporting Engineered to Order (ETO) manufacturing plant.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with little direction and effectively operate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues
