YOUR ROLE:
  • The role of the Sr. Scientist is to develop hair related products requested by Marketing, Sales and Supply Chain Managers with a low level of supervision and direction from Supervisor.
  • Serves as the technical resource for the brands by providing them exclusive, unique innovation as well as technical insights.
  • This role’s responsibilities encompass the complete product development process from concept generation and discussion with brand team to implementation in alignment with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain Managers.
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest raw material innovations, formulation techniques, and testing methodologies; presenting project status and testing results to various groups; and compiling product dossier that evaluate regulatory restrictions, claims, freedom to operate and patentability, and quality/trial checks.
  • Formulate new prototypes and develop new technologies in order to create new or to improve existing hair related products. In case of external product development
  • Execute and coordinate innovation through external R&D sources. Both approaches might involve work with other R&D groups, suppliers and outside research institutes.
  • Acts as a mentor to junior group members.
  • Engages in research activities to develop innovative technology and application in products.
 
YOUR SKILLS:
  • Background in developing, formulating hair or skin care products is required.
  • Minimum of a BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field, 5+ years experience working in formulations lab and performing quality testing procedures
  • Project management experience is preferred
  • Must have knowledge of technical information of hair care formulations
  • Ability to effectively translate technical into non-technical communication
  • Ability to be both creative and process oriented in support of driving innovation and execution
  • Self-motivated, organized and ability to prioritize workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills are necessary.
  • Strong presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills are critical.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel 15 % of time.
