CONTROLLER / FINOP w Series 27 - Hybrid NYC (2 days on site)

TITLE: CONTROLLER / FINOP w Series 27

CUSTOMER: Capital Markets / Broker Dealer / Fintech
LOCATION: 2 days per week in NYC
BROKER DEALER EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 Candidates must currently live in the NY/NJ/CT metro Area

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the timely and accurate delivery of monthly management and quarterly GAAP consolidated financial statements.
  • Prepare intercompany elimination entries, account reconciliations, and account analyses.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain supporting documentation to comply with internal control standards, including system descriptions and accounting policies.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules supporting consolidated financial statement disclosures.
  • Collaborate with internal/external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
  • Support the CFO in the periodic application and review of internal controls over the financial reporting process.
  • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial results at the end of reporting periods.
  • Drive continuous process improvement efforts to enhance the timeliness and accuracy of financial results and reporting processes.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses as requested by management.
  • Improve treasury functions.
 
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's in Accounting required.
  • BROKER DEALER required
  • Series 7, 27 and 99 are desired
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • A self-motivated team player with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Familiarity with DFIN and FloQast preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
  • Experience in Netsuite is preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of GAAP accounting rules.
  • Proactive mindset and ability to exercise initiative within the scope of the role.
  • Creative problem solver with a focus on automated solutions.
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding analytical, critical thinking, and quantitative skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • A results-driven mindset and a high sense of urgency.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
