We are looking for an Sr. Electrical Engineer to join our client’s Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.
Your Responsibilities
Serves as leader for small technical teams
Designs and analyzes complex electro-mechanical components and systems.
Conducts analytical studies and testing on new and modified designs.
Develops and directs others in the development of design information for use in reports, specifications and drawings.
Develop Direct and Quadrature circuits for electric motors, generators, and exciters. Conduct Direct and Quadrature analysis of motors, generators, and exciters. Perform transient simulation of electric motors, generators, exciters, rectifiers, and controls.
Plans and coordinates the execution of complex engineering solutions including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical presentations. Analyzes assigned tasks to provide estimates of manpower and material required to complete. Prepares schedules for accomplishing tasks within estimates.
Perform high level electrical analysis of transformers, rod position indicators, and other electromagnetic. Interface with and interact with peers performing EM finite element calculations on motors, generators, exciters, transformers, and other electromagnetic devices.
Designs new equipment and machinery as conceived to support program and project needs. Oversees the building, installing, debugging, and testing new equipment to ensure production capabilities.
Determines technical objectives and develops innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problems. Acts as technical expert for failure investigations, root cause analyses, and design reviews.
Leads technical teams in design and analytical activities for product design, development and production. Mentors less experienced engineers and is involved in development of their skills. Master useful understanding and apply engineering software tools and systems (e.g. Ansys Maxwell, MATLAB, MATHCAD, Altair Flux, etc.)
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Experience in Nuclear design and manufacturing for defense and commercial components
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required, Masters preferred. PhD a plus
15+ years’ experience in Electrical Engineering with a transient simulation skill set.
Working knowledge of one or more of the following: 2D/3D Electro Magnetic Finite Element Analysis, System Modeling (Mathcad, Matlab, Simulink, Flux2D), Acoustics, Thermal Analysis
Experience in Direct and Quadrature circuit development and analysis of electric motors, generators, and exciters.
Ability to create models and drawings, present design reviews, and perform trade studies and design reviews.
Capable of coordinating multiple project responsibilities.
Must be a team player and have knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Ability to perform analysis and studies with strong attention to details in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
Small design team leadership.
