Production Superintendent (w Plant Management exp) Ohio to $135,000

NOTE: This plant is 24/5 and they make rubber based building products for commercial construction, schools, arenas, etc. They use a rubber extrusion method.  It is a NON-UNION shop.  They highly prefer candidates for this position from NON-union shops.  The is a Production Superintendent position but they are grooming the person for quick jump to Plant Manager so they want a candidate with prior plant manager exp., even though it may be an initial backward move for a plant manager.  The plant has 110 employees and 3 direct reports.  They want someone who has worked with KPIs, is strategic, deals with people issues, budgets, etc
 
  • The Production Superintendent is responsible for overseeing product manufacturing, finished product quality and raw material management for multiple lines in a 24-hour manufacturing process, as well as employee training and development. Staff of 3 salary and approximately 80 hourly employees
  • The superintendent is also responsible for communicating and supporting corporate goals and facility targets for safety, productivity and product quality, effectively problem solve and troubleshoot process personal issues and develop corrective actions.
  • The superintendent may also support the facility by assuming the responsibilities of the plant manager in his her absence.

Day to Day:
  • Supervise manufacturing resources to meet production goals and assist in preparation of budgets and standards for cost measurement
  • Plan and schedule work to utilize equipment and maintain maximum productivity levels
  • Utilize operating indicators for control of product cost, material usage, machine downtime, expenditure control and other shift functions
  • Actively support improvement of safety performance by reducing OSHA incident rate and lost time accidents to 0
  • Develop and administer material and labor usage controls and metrics
  • Ensure production activities are in compliance with company policies procedures and that manufactured goods meet finished product specifications
  • Maintain strict compliance with all financial, legal, regulatory and environmental requirements

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in management, engineering or relevant field with a minimum of 5 years operational leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills. This role manages a staff of 3 salary and 80 hourly employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to work partner with Plant Leadership team
  • Proven ability to diagnose solve process issues
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of SAP or ERP systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Responsible for performance evaluations, pay reviews, hiring, and terminating.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Driving leadership skills into the supervisors and having them hold their teams accountable. Lack of engagement on the supt. Side.
  • This plant is a 24/5 (3–8-hour shifts) operation with 80-85 non-union employees. 
  • Will have 3 direct reports (Production Supervisors). Needs to have the flexibility to engage on all 3-shifts. 
  • This person will be responsible for the organization in Milan and needs to be able to utilize the resources to become more capable.
  • Addressing gaps of behaviors on the floor. 
  • This leader will be responsible for all aspects of the operation, including safety, production, maintenance, warehouse, budget management, productivity improvements, and quality.
  • We need a people person, with a process mind-set, who wants to build relationships and have a strong floor presence, and positivity.
  • A successful person would have strong communication and empathy, need to have the curiosity to want to understand the process - professional communication (word/outlook/excel)... and have strong decision-making skills. 
  • No successors for Plant Managers – that’s what this role/plant needs… looking for people to grow.
