Our firm, INTERMEDIA GROUP, a large US based search firm has been retained by our client, Large, nationally recognized chain of hospitals / medical centers to aid in filling the below listed position in New Jersey.
JOB TITLE: Director Fund Development (Donations / Gifts / Major Gifts)

Our client, a major nationally recognized hospital chain in New Jersey is seeking a Director Fund Development (Donations / Gifts). This is a fund raising professional responsible for marketing and soliciting Major Gifts from donors.
The candidate will work within the Hospital’s Development Office - The Development Office is responsible for raising funds, through various means, to support the needs of the hospital. Soliciting funds from wealthy Donors, having various events and functions and managing a thrift shop are some of the means used to raise funds.
Must have personal fund raising experience, including hands on, ‘wining and dining’ type of experience. Will nurture relationships with potential donors on a one on one basis (not through events and parties).
It is a personal, hands on, ‘wine-ing and dine-ing’ type position in which the Candidate will nurture relationships with these people on a one on one basis (not through events and parties), using whatever support necessary (ie bringing the CEO of the Hospital to a meeting or lunch, pushing the Board of Directors to introduce him to their wealthy friends, etc).
Requires a minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in the Major Gifts area (A Major Gift type Donor starts at a minimum gift of $5,000 to $10,000 and goes up from there), handling a minimum of 10 to 25 prospects.
Must have experience raising funds from one of the following industries:
· Hospitals and Medical Centers (ideal)
· Higher Education
· Youth Organization such as Boy Scouts, Big Brother, etc
· Religious Organizations
Personal Characteristics - Must be personable, educated and cultured and able to handle yourself with wealthy people and gain the respect of top management and the Board so they will support fund raising efforts. Bright, articulate, personable, able to hold his own in a conversation with a variety of people, many of whom are wealthy and successful. Candidate should have received a $500,000, or better, Single Gift in his experience
